How to Identify FoMoCo Radios

AM Radio Markings (Philco)

On '65-66 AM Radios, engineering numbers will be found on the left hand (driver's) side of the radio case. (Note the dash following the "5TPZ" prefix -- used on 1965 radios, but not the 1966 sets.)
The underside of all sets will have the "FoMoCo" and "12V NEG. GND." stampings. An added bonus on this chassis is the "Wheeling Steel" marking from the original sheet metal stock -- including the "1 65" date code visible at bottom center.
Another "exclusive" feature on 1965 models is this barely visible "INSTALLED - DATE" stamping, placed on the right hand side of the unit, next to the antenna connector.
All '65-66 Philco AM Radios should also have this factory QC sticker atop the chrome bezel.

8-Track Markings

These markings are found on the rear of the T6SMZ AM-8 track and T6SMH / T7SMH Underdash 8-track players, all of which share a common chassis:
    A - Radio Engineering Number
    B - Player Serial Number
C - Inspection Stamps (found on various parts of the unit)
D - Motorola Part Numbers for the Rear Cover. Others covers marked:
      Top - 15D 43440 A01
      Bottom - 15D 43593 A01
      Right Side - 7C 40628 B01
Note the obvious stamping differences between the "M" and other characters in the part number -- strongly indicating the Motorola identifier and serial number resulted from one stamping, while the remainder of the engineering number was imprinted separately.
